...Crazy for Missoni*

“I think we're going back to a beautiful woman, ... Not with the glamour of the '80s -- it's a more beautiful, healthy girl.”
~ Angela Missoni

Can we say black Friday in September???
By time I got off work -- Target's website had crashed and EVERY piece I had my eye on is SOLD OUT!?!
I was even a little curious and went to e-bay were I saw people were selling the pieces for CRAZY prices! People like that SUCK!  Oh well, I guess I'll have to try the stores....

..."Slave" earrings*

As long as the mind is enslaved, the body can never be free. Psychological freedom, a firm sense of self-esteem, is the most powerful weapon against the long night of physical slavery.
~ MARTIN LUTHER KING

Vogue is no stranger to offensive features.
In the past we've seen FrenchVogue do blackface on supermodel Lara Stone in 2009...

AmericanVogue portrayed LeBron James as King Kong in 2008...

...and IndianVogue put a Fendi bib worth $100 on an poor child also in 2008.

Vogue Italia always seemed a bit more enlightened than its sister publications.
Just three years ago, the magazine put out its first "all black" issue, to push for more diversity in fashion.

Franca Sozzani issued a formal apology for the controversially titled "Slave Earrings" feature.
"It is a matter of really bad translation from Italian into English," she explained. "The Italian word, which defines those kind of earrings, should instead be translated into 'ethnical style earrings'. Again, we are sorry about this mistake which we have just amended in the website."

If I'm not mistaken -- this style of earrings were not only worn in Africa -- but also in Rome, Greece and Native Americans wore hoops right here in America.
But even if that was the point, that the style came from Africa, why not call them "African" earrings.

I'm still SMH... what do you think?

...lovin the fro*

Radical simply means "grasping things at the root."
Angela Davis

We all know about the Black Power movement that took place in the 1960′s, but would that be considered the true “roots” of the afro itself?
My favorite afro’s of all time have got to be Angela Davis, Pam Grier, and Diana Ross.

...i *fall* HARD for shoes*

...Anyone who knows me -- knows that i LOVE shoes, just as much as the next girl.
I have to say the majority of my shoes come from UO (Urban Outfitters) and Aldo (plus i used to work there!).
UO just released the new fall looks today -- and I *heart* just about every style.
The two tone sole is looking like a fall must-have... I really like the look!

...Tribal Inspiration*

So... I've convinced myself to do a tribal photo shoot with some AMAZING make-up artists and photographers in the area.

Time for a little inspiration...

...playing in the Sun*

Time to dust the rust off...
I was invited to go up to Door County for a mini-photo shoot, hosted by FUSE photo group on facebook.
I have never been to Door County, but I've always heard how beautiful it is...

Honestly, my breath was taken away!

Vineyards, Caves, Cliffs, Waves and Sun = PERFECT DAY!
